Annie Bananie Ice Cream is a family owned and operated ice cream store serving the finest ice cream from Jane’s Ice Cream, a family run micro-creamery based on Kingston, N.Y. Flavors vary from the basic Vanilla Bean to Cookie Monster, Espresso Cookie and a variety of sorbets. Ask for the “Annie Bananie” and you’ll receive a classic Banana Split with vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream, banana, hot fudge, marshmallow, caramel topping, whipped cream, cherry and cookie. Make sure to follow them on Facebook for specials and daily offerings.
5 Bridge Street, Kent, CT 06757
This family owned restaurant is opened for breakfast, lunch and dinner and offers the perfect view to locals and tourists alike. Sit on the outdoor patio and overlook the famous West Cornwall Covered Bridge. During the warmer months, the Moose sells Gifford’s ice cream. Ask for a cone to go and enjoy your cold treat sitting on a bench beside the Housatonic River while watching rafters take off into the water.
421 Sharon Goshen Turnpike, West Cornwall, CT 06796
Miniature golf, batting cages and arcade games? The only thing that can make it better is delicious American classics and ice cream! The Caddie Shack is the perfect place for family fun. Order the Shack Attack and get a double double cheeseburger, large fries and a milkshake made with the flavor of your choice. Other ice cream options include soft serve, traditional sundaes and SnoBalls.
316 Ashley Falls Road, Canaan, CT
You’re probably thinking that a coffee and chocolate shop doesn’t belong on a list for cold desserts. However, with their recent move and renovations, Kent Coffee and Chocolate now offers ice cream! After 25 years in business, the shop moved into the old Bank of America, a stone’s throw from their old location. Luckily for the locals, the move has done nothing but improve the store and increase the staff’s capabilities.
45 North Main Street, Kent, CT
This year, the fair celebrates its 104th year of professional truck pulls, monster trucks, live music, agricultural contests, family fun and fireworks! Vendors come from far and wide to sell a variety of artisan goods and products, but the food trucks are the star of the show (for me, at least.) Apple cider donuts, BBQ sandwiches, fresh kettle corn and hand-shaken lemonade promise to fill you up, but make sure to save room for an ice cream sundae. Look for “World’s Best” and get a classic strawberry sundae made with creamy soft serve and fresh strawberry topping. Unfortunately, the fair only happens once a year so mark your calendars for Labor Day weekend and don’t miss out!
116 Old Middle Street, Goshen, CT 06756
Another important stop in Goshen is the Village Market. The small convenience store, deli and gas station is newer to the area but has already developed quite the reputation for fresh and delicious food. The ice cream is no exception and is delivered from SoCo Creamery in Great Barrington, MA. The old fashioned ice cream comes in a variety of flavors and they now offer traditional soft serve. Stop by on Tuesday between 4-7, pick up a cone and stop by the Goshen Farmer’s Market set up right in front.
