West Cornwall Mid-Winter Stroll

A cure to cabin fever! On February 24th, visit West Cornwall for the town’s second annual Mid-Winter Stroll. Activities for all are plentiful, including a hike offered by the Cornwall Conservation Trust, meeting at 2pm near the trailhead on Lower River Road. Participants will explore the winter wildlife, learn who is still sleeping and what might be stirring.

Joe Brien of Lost Art will be offering a ready for spring appropriate workshop at the West Cornwall Library – Make a Rake. Young and young at heart are invited to hand craft a wooden tool to use in your garden, flower box or even as a back scratcher!

Dabbie Labbe and her handsome llama, Jack, will be on the Wish House lawn for therapeutic mini strolls. Inside, there will be bubbly and 1812 House samples of their sweet mail order offerings. Downstairs in the Souterrain Gallery, Still the Homegrown Band will get things swinging while you peruse the art. The Gallery is featuring works by Susan Hellmann, “Simply Cornwall.”

Bain Real Estate will be offering hot chocolate and insight as to what’s available in the area should you be considering Cornwall. And you should! Housatonic Hairworks will be selling homemade Goat Boy soaps and doling our treats.

And if you’re hungry, pop into newly opened Pearly’s Farmhouse Cafe where a maple syrup tasting will also be held.

Across the street at Ian Ingersoll Cabinetmakers you’ll find liquid refreshments and eye candy. The Toll House will have several Cornwall artists works on display, Don Bracken, Swede Ahrstrom, Scott Zuckerman and Susan Rand.

And should you need more enticing, Casa Bacchus proprietor and local resident, Chris Jeans, has also generously provided a basket of spirits as a raffle prize. More shenanigans are being planned so please stay tuned & check out the “West Cornwall Winter Stroll ”  Facebook page for updates.
